Are you an editor that is longing to have more opportunity and freedom in crafting a story, mining gems, and creating meaningful, impactful, and high performing content on YouTube, social media, and other distribution platforms? If so, we are looking for a storytelling master that can see the stories in the footage and just can’t wait to bring as many as possible to life. If you're great at storytelling through short form video content and want to be a part of a creative, supportive, and growing team, we’d love to hear from you!
Before applying, please visit Stiry.com to familiarize yourself with our mission and the kind of content we produce to ensure that we are a good fit. That’s really important to us. We aren’t a typical video production house. We are on a mission to bring inspiration and change to millions of people, through film.
Position Overview:
Stiry is seeking a talented and organized Lead Editor to join our team. We need an exceptional storyteller. This role will be responsible for supporting our production and editorial team with editing tasks, managing video and media assets, and managing a large portion of the post-production process. You’ll be working closely with the Director, Creative Director, and Project Managers to ensure deadlines are met and that content is aligned with Stiry's high standards for streaming content, social media, marketing, and partner/client work.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Video Editing: Proficient editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. Editing documentary and interview footage, including emotional and inspirational stories. This will be a combination of new stories and mining impactful content from our library of over 500 individual stories.
-
Visual Effects & After Effects: Incorporate visual effects using Adobe After Effects to enhance storytelling.
-
Photo Editing: Editing and retouching photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for thumbnails, movie posters, and social media posts.
-
Media Management: Organize, catalog, and manage video, photo, and audio assets. Ensure proper backups and file organization on the server and in Google Drive and other cloud platforms.
-
Server Maintenance & Backups: Manage server organization, cataloguing, and backups for media assets.
-
Content Creation: Edit both short-form and long-form content to effectively perform primarily on streaming partners platforms, YouTube and various social media and distribution platforms, ensuring it aligns with the tone and message of each project and our storytelling standards.
-
Work with Paper Edits: Experience working with paper edits from directors and editing directly from interview footage with minimal guidance.
-
AI and Automation Tools: Use AI-powered tools and automation to streamline video editing processes, visual and audio enhancement, and media content posting.
-
Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with the Director, Creative Director, and Project Managers to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
-
Content Production (as needed): Assist Directors in creating YouTube and social media content with a storytelling emphasis, including occasional filming with Sony cameras.
-
Required Qualifications:
-
Minimum 3 years of experience in video editing and post-production.
-
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
-
Experience specifically with documentary, podcast, and interview footage editing.
-
Strong organizational skills and experience with file sharing platforms (e.g., Google Drive, cloud storage).
-
Experience creating high performing streaming, YouTube and social media content, both short-form and long-form.
-
Familiarity with project management software for tracking and organizing tasks and deadlines.
-
Experience in server maintenance, backups, and media asset management.
-
Ability to maintain a professional work ethic and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
-
Previous experience editing emotionally impactful documentary, streaming, YouTube, social media, and/or podcast content.
